CAREER OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE ECD QUALIFICATION nationally & internationally:
•Playschool teacher assistant, day care center administrator.
•Working as Au-Pair or Nanny in private placements
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
•Plan and prepare a broad-phase learning environment and stimulating activities that meet the holistic needs of all children in centre-based or non-centre-based settings.
•Facilitate and mediate all aspects of the daily programme in a centre-based or non-centre-based setting.
•Observe, assess and record each child’s progress.
•Compile a report of each child’s progress.
•Maintain and promote the well-being, health, nutrition, safety and protection of children.

Travel has been identified as one of the key concerns for students dropping out of programs as they can't afford to travel and hence miss attendance.
CareChamp College will also offer every student R250 travel allowance per month (paid twice per month @R125 each) to help with travel fees to attend in-person classes.

CareChamp offers ethical student loans repayable over 6 years and only as and when employment is found and when the student earns over a specific threshold.
This new international model is extremely beneficial to students as it not only enhances access to education, it also gives independence as it makes the student responsible for their study fees.

We are modernising the curriculum to accommodate much needed e-learning material. Students will need to come into class for facilitated lessons, practicals and workplace experience modules with partners are key to the certification.
All CareChamp College courses will be an exciting combination of in-person training coupled with e-learning material for home study.

The salary for early childhood development (ECD) practitioners in South Africa can vary depending on a number of factors, such as qualifications, years of experience, and the type of organization they work for. Entry-level ECD practitioners with no experience may earn around R80,000 to R120,000 per year. Those with a diploma or degree in ECD, as well as several years of experience, may earn between R120,000 and R200,000 per year.

The salary for Home Based Care workers varies between R60 000 - R100 000 per year ; depending on skills (special skills such as advanced dementia care etc are often higher paid).

Once you have submitted your application online you will receive an email within 10 days if your application was successful.

Early Childhood Development Practitioner: 10 months in total (9 months classes + 1 month study for final exams).
Home Based Carer: Part Qualification 6 months; and Full Qualification: 10-12 months.

National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at NQF Level 3, OR Any other NQF Level 3 qualification.

Loop Street, Cape Town CBD for theoretical training.
Workplace Partners for practical experience (one of them is Kids on the Bay in Camps Bay)

Instalment options avail for reg fee (required by all successful candidates after acceptance to the program and is required to be paid on registration to confirm spot)
* R500 initial payment to confirm registration + R500 debited in first month of studies

Successful candidates will receive a Student Card and a Dedicated Welcome Pack including their course schedule & initial course material.

If you are female, under 35 years and from a previously disadvantaged background, you qualify to receive the ethical student loan over R25 000.
Alternatively the payable fee is R2000 per month starting in the first month of your course.

Our international partnership will also allow some of our students to access international work placements to gain experience. Possible employment through CareChamp in the Homecare sector, as well as national and international workplace partners.

South Africa has a shortage of healthcare workers which is why the government has prioritized home-based care as a key area for investment. This has led to an increase in the number of programs and services which means more demand for home based personal care workers.
Overall, the demand for home-based carers in South Africa is likely to continue to grow.

There are 3 areas of learning for each of the course modules:
Knowledge (theory),
Practical (practising making/creating/doing)
Work experience (in school environment)
Depending on the module, students could have classes in either the morning or early afternoon. Workplace experience may require attendance full time to match the needs of the children.
This occupational certificate has minimum number of notional hours in line with SAQA requirements.
