  • We offer ethical student loans for students repayable only as and when employment is found and when the student earns over a specific threshold.

    This new international model is extremely beneficial to students as it not only enhances access to education, it also gives independence as it makes the student responsible for their study fees.

    If you are successfully chosen to receive the loan, this amount only becomes payable over a period of 72 months (6 years) - depending on how much you earn and when you work in the ECD sector.

  • Total Course Fee: R25 000 all inclusive. (Next to general Tuition Fee, criminal & credit check (required by workplace partners); External Assessment Fee & QCTO certificate fee; your student card)

    PLEASE NOTE if you are South African under 35 of age & below a certain household income, you do qualify for the ethical student loan.

    Students will receive a Student ID Card and a Dedicated Welcome Pack including their course schedule & initial course material.

    6 PRACTICAL MODULES:

    • Plan and prepare inclusive educational activities and routines

    • Facilitate and mediate active learning in an integrated and holistic learning programme

    • Observe, assess, record and report each child's progress according to the age and stage

    • Support and promote the health, nutrition, safety, protection and well-being of children

    • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with parents and other service providers

    • Prepare and maintain administrative systems

    4 WORKPLACE MODULES:

    • Learning programme and routines planning and preparation process

    • Processes of facilitating and mediating the learning programme in a variety of contexts

    • Processes of observation, assessment, recording and reporting on children's learning and development

    • Processes and procedures of promoting the health, nutrition, safety, protection and well-being of children in an early childhood development setting

    7 THEORY MODULES AROUND:

    • Introduction to the early childhood development sector

    • Theories and Perspectives of Child Development

    • Planning and Programme Development in early childhood settings

    • Facilitation and mediation of active learning

    • Observation and assessment in early childhood development

    • Promotion of health, safety and well-being of children

    • Administration for early childhood development services and programmes

  • 10 months in total (9 months theory and practicals + 1 month final exam prep & study)

  • This is a full time qualification. The Knowledge Modules and Practical Modules are taking place on campus 2-3 times a week in the mornings; with practical assignments to be completed at home.

    Workplace Modules: will require Monday - Friday attendance at our workplace partners from 8am - 1pm: pre-schools, ECD centres etc.

    9 months in-person course, 1 month study study time for final EISA (external integrative summative assessment). 

    This occupational certificate has minimum number of notional hours in line with SAQA requirements.

    We will also aim - depending on your progress and prior work and course experience - to fit you in with night shifts and weekend shifts through our placement agency to enable additional earning potential.

  • Our international partnerships will allow some of our students to access international work placements to gain experience.

    Locally, our workplace partners practical work experience can also result in employment, as there is a demand for quality trained Early Childhood Practitioners.

    Possible employment through CareChamp Home Care Agency or Home Based Care sector.

  • We are modernising the curriculum to accommodate much needed e-learning material.

    Our course will be an exciting combination of in-person training coupled with e-learning material for home study.

    Learning & Study format will be face to face and online support.

    The course will be split into classes at the campus, practical work experience and online learning and assignments.

  • All interested candidates need to follow the prompts and apply online.

    Once your application is submitted you will immediately receive an online basic skills assessment which should take 25 minutes to complete.

    Successful candidates will receive the next steps via email correspondence.

    We require a national Certificate Vocational (NCV) at NQF Level 3, OR Any other NQF Level 3 qualification to be considered (Min Grade 11).

    Furthermore a criminal and credit record check will be conducted.

    • You can also start up your own ECD centre.

    Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

    • Plan and prepare a broad-phase learning environment and stimulating activities that meet the holistic needs of all children in centre-based or non-centre-based settings.

    • Facilitate and mediate all aspects of the daily programme in a centre-based or non-centre-based setting.

    • Observe, assess and record each child’s progress.

    • Compile a report of each child’s progress.

    • Maintain and promote the well-being, health, nutrition, safety and protection of children.

    The students who successfully pass the External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA) will be issued with a QCTO qualification.

    Training assessment: Both qualifications require knowledge modules, practical skills modules and workplace experience.
