“I remember when I was still in training, one of our residents was having a hard time breathing properly and she had a heart problem that nobody knew about until I spoke to her and listened to everything she had to say. In our conversation she kept insisting that her heart feels heavy most of the time. I then told one of my superiors and they had her checked by the doctor only to find out that she had a heart problem. So I'm glad that I was so attentive as it helped us discover her problem.”
In what skills area do you feel most qualified to be a caregiver?
“ My focus area is more in Specialized care due to my experience and skill set, areas include general Frail care, Dementia care, Physical & Mental Disability care, Post-Operative care, Palliative care, Care for children with disabilities, Assessing basic vital signs, Care of paraplegic and/or tetraplegic patients, PEG insertion and feeding, Basic Catheter care, Wound care monitoring to name a few.”
What makes you most excited about working with seniors?
“I get so excited if I'm ever given an opportunity to work with seniors because they are the most warm-hearted people I know and they have so much wisdom and understanding.”
